1.) Greg Hartmann, Hamilton County Clerk of Courts, announces the launch of OPERATION CLEAN SLATE.
2.) OPERATION CLEAN SLATE will commence at 6:00 AM, on Monday, October 2, 2006 and will continue for a period of seven (7) days, ending at 11:59 PM on Sunday, October 8, 2006.
OPERATION CLEAN SLATE specifically includes the following:
- Moving traffic offenses for which tickets were issued on or before May 31, 2006.
- Minor misdemeanor criminal charges cited on or before May 31, 2006.
- Non-moving traffic offenses cited or ticketed on or before May 31, 2006 including City of Cincinnati parking citations and D.E.T.E.R. offenses.
Parking citations and traffic tickets issued or minor misdemeanor criminal charges cited after May 31, 2006 are not eligible for OPERATION CLEAN SLATE.
OPERATION CLEAN SLATE specifically excludes the following:
- Felony-level offenses.
- DUI’s.
- Domestic Violence and Menacing by Stalking Charges.
- Cases with mandatory court appearances where the duty to appear is not based solely on a capias issued in the case but is based in whole or part on the underlying charge or offense.
People taking advantage of OPERATION CLEAN SLATE will have the benefit of their payouts being based on the original single ticket or citation price. All delinquency fees, capias recall fees, case docketing fees and other surcharges are being waived in full except the $5.00 D.E.T.E.R. release fee required by the State of Ohio.
People against whom there is an outstanding capias related to a delinquent moving traffic ticket or minor misdemeanor can receive a re-cite or new court date and avoid an arrest related to the charge or ticket. The re-cite date is an option for those who want to contest a matter in court, but they will also have the option of making a payout at the reduced price in lieu of appearing in court. Payment in full will recall all outstanding capiases or warrants for that offense. If for any reason the Clerk of Courts is unable to identify the original price for an older offense, the payout shall be One Hundred and Four Dollars ($104.00).
OPERATION CLEAN SLATE payments can be made 24 hours per day in Room 112 of the Hamilton County Justice Center, located at 1000 Sycamore Street, Cincinnati, Ohio 45202. Payment can be by cash, check, credit card or money order. Payments (by money order only) may be made by mail, sent to the above address, if postmarked on or before Sunday, October 8, 2006. Payment for parking infractions only may also be made 24 hours a day either online on the Clerk's website, www.courtclerk.org/pay_parking.asp or by telephone using VISA or Mastercard by calling (513) 946-6000. If someone cannot locate their original traffic ticket or criminal citation, they must be prepared to furnish their Social Security Number for the Clerk of Courts staff to determine any outstanding offenses eligible for OPERATION CLEAN SLATE.
Cincinnati Parking tickets have been placed on the Clerk’s website, www.courtclerk.org/ticketsearch.asp in order that people may search to determine if they have outstanding parking tickets. Parking tickets may be searched by license plate number or ticket number. On the web site, parking tickets are found by going to “Municipal Traffic” and then clicking on “Ticket Inquiry”.
